no way it's possible to make the default MS paint color palette look actually good

It is possible it's just that nobody does it, Most stuff I can think of off the top of my head uses the, admittedly kinda gross, purple/green/flesh colours in huge washes and it just ends up looking really nasty.

I've been training in using these colours for years now so I know how to use them, even the secondary colours hidden in the edit colour menu. The only thing that's really limiting about the complete palette is that there aren't many oranges,

Indeed. I was always a fan of the weird cartoons they would air over on Nickelodeon.
So it makes sense that it's colored my style a bit.
